Hey so I am back at school after Winter Break. Rush has been going on for the past two weekends but I decided not to join a sorority. I did put in an application for Admissions Ambassadors which I have an interview for on Tuesday and being on Hall Staff which I have a group interview for on Tuesday as well and later an individual interview. This semester I am taking Intro to Philosophy, an anthropology course called World Prehistory, Wellness Concepts, and my freshman semenar called What is Normal? All my classes seem interesting so far. For some sad news I just got a call from my parents, Cori will be leaving us on February 7th. I knew this was coming and said goodbye to her before I left for break but I miss her dearly but I know she will be going to help someone. She is a working dog and her goal in life is to do good and help another person, despite the attachment we have formed. More sad news Joe Paterno died which is a huge loss as he was such an amazing person and a huge inspiration.
I drift off into LaLaLand
the land of the unreasoned, unintellectual
the place of pain and hurt
where only drugs and sleep seem to keep me sane
——-
turn off the lights
cut the sound
I don’t want to deal with it anymore
just let me be in my world
——-
when can I be free
this oppression is not fair
why do I bear the endless throbbing
let me out
Occupy Morgantown, West Virginia. Two protestors, Julia Hamilton (L) and Hillery Chadderton (R) hold a sign reading:
“We shall fight for the things which we have always carried nearest to our hearts, for democracy, for the right of those who submit to authority to have a voice in their own governments.”
The quote is from President Woodrow Wilson’s April 1917 “War Message” to Congress, announcing the severing of diplomatic ties with Germany.
Photo submitted by Julia Hamilton, who has both a personal Tumblr and an Occupy-specific Tumblr for you to follow!
